“We seek to achieve three goals by reforming the financial sector,” FSC Chairman Yim Jong-yong said during a press conference on September 2.
“Boost people’s wealth, provide necessary fund to businesses and households, and create jobs for the young generation.”
One of the main policy drives the FSC puts focuss nowdays is Financial Reform. We believe that Korea can be globally competitive and achieve economic growth by reforming the financial industry. To that sense, the FSC recently came up with a slogan ‘Now, Finance leads Korea.’
Chairman Yim went on by saying that in order for the people to actually witness the effects of Financial Reform in their everyday life, we must first reform and ease financial regulations.
“In other words, the financial sector must be capable of effectively providing money where it is needed, and create high added value by developing innovative financial services.”
Meanwhile, he admitted it is true that actual benefits of Financial Reform are yet to be reached out to ordinary people. In order to form a social consensus, FSC Chairman will hold a press briefing once in every month to explain the progress and plan related to the Financial Reform drive.
