Yesterday marked the first Finance Day. October 25 was celebrated as Savings Day until last year.
Savings Day, designated in 1964, has successfully made up to its purpose by raising the people’s awareness on the importance of saving which in turn contributed in raising fund for Korea’s economic growth and accumulating wealth. However, with the development of new and diverse financial means to build fortune other than mere saving money, Savings Day was replaced with Finance Day starting this year.
The event to celebrate the first Finance Day was hosted by the Prime Minister. FSC Chairman, FSS Governor, and 500 other executives and employees of financial companies joined the event to add meaning.
Citations and awards from the President, FSC Chairman, and FSS Governor were presented to 216 figures who made significant efforts in achieving financial reform and showed exemplary saving practices.
TV star Sam Okyere, baseball player Lee Seung-yup and movie actor Kim Joo-hyuk were among the 216 awardees.
